Loan of Materials
- Patrons must present a library card to check out materials. However, one time only, a patron will be allowed to check out materials with ID showing his/her name and address.
- Most materials are loaned for a three-week period with exceptions as noted in the table below. These limits are per patron at any one time.
- Juvenile card holders (those under 18 years of age) may borrow juvenile and young adult videos/DVDs and Adult non-fiction (educational/informational) videos/DVDs. All other videos/DVDs will be loaned only to cardholders who are 18 years of age or older; however parents may sign a waiver for those 13-17 years of age.
- Children's collection CD-ROMs may be loaned out to all patrons, but adult collection CD-ROMs and art prints are loaned to adult patrons only.
- A maximum of 25 circulating books and other items noted below may have a hold placed on them by any single card holder. Held items must be picked up within 4 days of notification by phone or e-mail. If unable to notify by phone or e-mail, a postcard will be mailed and the item will be held one week. The library is not responsible for e-mails, phone messages, or mail (*USPS) not received on time. After that time, these items will become available for the next patron on the hold list or placed back in circulation. A “No Pick-Up Fee” will be added to the patron’s card. (See Policy on Fines)
- Materials may be restricted to in-house use if deemed necessary for optimum availability. Materials in the Reference, Genealogy, and Indiana collections will circulate only with the approval of the Library Director or, in the absence of the Director, Assistant Director.
- Most materials (exceptions noted in the table below) may be renewed if there are no holds on the item. Renewals may be done in person or by phone during library hours. Renewals may be done on-line 24 hours a day. When an item is renewed, it is given an extension which matches the original loan period except for extended loan periods. Patrons who are granted an extended loan period (teachers and those with vacation loans) may renew items for the regular loan period if renewed a second time.
- The library assumes no responsibility for damage incurred to machines or data from the use of disks, discs, thumb drives, and/or electronic resources from its collection.
